Server and Host Failure reports are available on a per-Server and Host basis with GameCreate; and this information is recorded automatically.
Server Failures indicate when individual Server's fail unexpectedly (when they crash, or fail to respond to server queries). Host Failures indicate when individual Host's lose their connection to GameCreate for an extended period of time.
There are several places to view failure reports:
Individual Server and Host Failures: Visit the Server or Host Configuration tab, and then click on the Failure Reports link
Overall Server and Host Failures: Visit the Hosts or Servers tab, and then click on the Failure Reports link at the top
This information is also available as an RSS feed, which is accessible via the RSS Feed link that appears on the Failure Report page.
An automatic e-mail notification can optionally be sent to you when failures occur; simply tick the appropriate option on the desired Failure Report page.
GameCreate records the reason for failure at the time of the incident in the Failure Reports log description.
Failure Categories
GameCreate can detect several types of Server failures. A Server has failed when it has crashed or otherwise become inaccessible to players.
Query Failure
Query Failures are raised when GameCreate cannot appear to query your game server for information - using the same technique player's use to view your server via game browsers.
While GameCreate monitors your game servers for player information (in order to populate the Server Overview page with statistics), GameCreate also recognises when a server fails to respond to repeated server queries.
When a server repeatedly fails to respond to server queries (such as four query failures in a row, spaced out over a two minute interval) GameCreate considers that server to have failed and restarts it.
An important note here is that GameCreate must be able to query your server (externally, via the GameCreate master server) in order for this feature to not always consider your server as having failed.
You can disable Query Failure checking by disabling the Monitor servers on this host for players and query failures option on the Host Configuration tab the affected server is on.
Process Failure
Process Failures are raised when GameCreate detects the process it had originally started is no longer running, but is supposed to be up and running according to GameCreate.
Processes for servers in the Running state are checked every 30 seconds; if a server is found to not have its associated process running, GameCreate considers it as failed and restarts it.
